Wanaruah Local Aboriginal Land Council
History of the LALC
what is it we do?
Since its creation in 1984, the Wanaruah LALC has focused on improving the lives of its members. It achieves this by effectively implementing the functions of an Aboriginal Land Council, as directed by the NSW Aboriginal Land Rights Act.
For the past 34 years we have worked diligently with limited resources to:
- Pursue land claims
- Rehabilitate and preserve land
- Provide Cultural and Heritage consultation services
- Advocate and support initiatives aimed at improving health
- Advocate for support services for our members/community
- Provide housing
- Support and pursue employment and upskilling opportunities
- Support and pursue educational opportunities
- Participate in sustainable micro business opportunities
- Seek and secure funding to support LALC initiatives
